Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed the new version Tesla Model S P85D and 60D. The most important improvement compared to the previous Tesla Top Model "S" is a four-wheel drive, which ensures particularly rapid acceleration of the sports car.

Elon Musk raised the expectations strongly: A week ago he announced the presentation in the short message service Twitter with a mysterious message:

Then there were speculations that the letter could stand for "Driverless" and that Tesla is imminent of a breakthrough in autonomous driving.

However, the new Model S P85D and 60 D are not self-driving and the previously highly screwed expectations were disappointed.

Conventional all wheel drive vehicles distribute power to the wheels from a single engine driving a complex mechanical transmission system.

By contrast, Dual Motor Model S, which comes with either the 60 kWh or 85 kWh battery, has a motor on each axle, digitally and independently controlling torque to the front and rear wheels. The result is unparalleled control of traction, with instantaneous response to the motors giving drivers precisely controlled performance in all conditions.
